PPE AND CE APPROVAL, WHY?

If the acronym PPE doesn't mean anything to you yet, what follows should help you see things more clearly, and understand the challenge and commitments of Wildust, in the development of its range of approved PPE.... Because yes, “Personal Protective Equipment” is equipment for the motorcyclist, the characteristics of which have been tested in the laboratory to meet the requirements of European standards for Motorcycle Protection. Once the tests have been validated, an approval certificate is issued,

Currently, only helmets and gloves require mandatory certification. Jackets and pants, although not yet covered, are directly exposed in the event of a fall and undoubtedly require an appropriate level of protection.

These devices, not governed by a "legal" obligation, can vary in terms of effectiveness and protection, and it's best to be careful, because not all equipment is equal. Only CE certification can guarantee certain standards and ensure "standardized protection within a legal framework." We'll explain how.

THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF APPROVAL

CE certification classifies motorcycle protective clothing into several levels, depending on their resistance to extreme conditions:

WHAT DOES “CE APPROVED PRODUCT” MEAN?

Having CE-approved or certified equipment guarantees that your gear has passed a series of demanding tests to meet European safety standards. Without this certification, it's impossible to know if your protection will provide real safety on the road. So, what are these tests and why are they so important?

WHERE ARE OUR PRODUCTS CERTIFIED?

Our equipment is tested and certified in France, at the CTC in Lyon, a laboratory renowned for its expertise in certifying personal protective equipment. The tests performed precisely simulate the physical conditions of a fall, analyzing the resistance of the materials and the strength of the seams. Each product undergoes several tests and must meet all the criteria to obtain certification. No compromises.

Our jackets and trousers meet the strict requirements of EN 17092, while our gloves comply with EN 13594. These certifications ensure that our products meet the safety standards imposed by the European Union.

TESTED AND APPROVED MATERIALS

For a long time, motorcyclists had to choose between riding in style and riding safely. Protective gear was often rigid, heavy, and unattractive, which discouraged many from wearing it. But today, thanks to innovative materials, it's finally possible to combine maximum safety with stylish aesthetics.

No more compromises, just the best of both worlds.

The safety of motorcycle gear depends primarily on the choice of materials. Some fabrics are specifically designed to offer high resistance to abrasion and impact, while ensuring comfort and flexibility. We make it a point of honor to select textiles that meet the most demanding criteria.

Every material used in our products is selected and tested to ensure the right balance between protection and comfort, so that riding is both safe and enjoyable.

CLEAR LABELING, A UNIQUE GUARANTEE

Never trust the product's outward appearance. Some equipment may appear armed without actually being approved, and others (like ours) cleverly hide the disadvantages related to approval. How many of you have already said to us: "That's pretty, but it's not approved!"... Because in the common imagination, what is technical is necessarily "ugly"!
There's only one religion: Labeling! If your product has a CE-marked sewn-in label (lining) with the pictogram of the current standard, then it's good! The product must also have an external label specifying its qualification and level of approval, as well as a technical notice on the product.

Without these two elements, you can move on!
